2014 11 14 – Beyond the Lights, Dumb and Dumber To

November looks slow. There are good movies coming into theaters, but none of them is particularly entertaining for me. Yes, The Hunger Games included.  So, let's see The Age of Ultron trailer for the umpteenth time.

This weekend we have two openings.

-----------------------------------------------

YOU CAN TELL THE MOVIE IS TARGETING LADIES, IF HALF OF POSTER'S WIDTH IS TAKEN BY MUSCLES

This movie, Beyond the Lights, is a drama PG-13 movie, from Relativity.

Fame and money can't fill the emptiness in your heart/life -- this is the premise of the story. Yawn. It looks like a typical movie inverted to court people with a darker shade of skin. Nothing interesting.

I CROSS MY FINGERS THERE ARE BIG SIGNS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD

This movie, Dumb and Dumber To, is a comedy R movie, from Universal.

I want this movie to bomb, badly. It's one of those ideas that looks compelling on paper, but in reality it preys on people's emotions and sentiments. Sure, some people liked the first installment, like 20 years ago. Sure, some people like comedies with easy jokes. But really do two 50-ish men can provide enough laughs? Kids would buy it, but for me it screams "I really need money, so give it to me!". That kind of message scares me off the movie.

Shots:

$ 36,11 mln  --  the official weekend number of the movie  (3154 theaters, $ 11,450 per theater)
$ 35 mln  --  Box Office team
$ 34 mln  --  Andy Burns, BiffBamPop
